Calculation Logic

This tool uses local browser image decoding and Canvas output:

  • The source image is read and drawn locally in your browser.
  • Output format and quality affect the final file size.
  • Lower quality usually reduces file size but may remove visual detail.
  • The image does not need to be uploaded for processing.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are read, previewed, and compressed locally in your browser.

Which formats are supported?

The first version targets JPG, PNG, and WebP formats supported by modern browsers. Actual support depends on your browser.

Why did PNG not shrink as much as JPG?

PNG is often used for transparent or lossless images, so browser re-encoding may not reduce size dramatically. Photos usually compress better as JPG or WebP.

Why does it sometimes keep the original file?

If the original image is already highly compressed, re-encoding can make it larger. Auto mode keeps the original to avoid a bigger download.

Can I target an exact file size?

The first version provides quality control and size comparison, but it does not promise exact KB targeting.

Is the output watermarked?

No. Downloaded images do not include an EasyTools watermark.
